Utah Offers Free Shooting Instruction

The Cache Valley Public Shooting Range is allowing entry to the archery, rifle and handgun ranges free of charge.

The first time I went to the range it was with my buddy Dave, who let me use his gun and showed me what to do. However, many people don't have a friend or family member who can take them to the range for that first experience. Now inexperienced shooters in Utah, you've got an option.

The Cache Valley Public Shooting Range is allowing entry to the archery, rifle and handgun ranges free of charge. For a reduced fee you can shoot on the shotgun range. There will be free instruction on-sight with Division of Wildlife Resources staff and Hunter Education instructors available to show you the ropes. And if you don't have your own equipment the DWR has equipment available to borrow. This awesome opportunity for new shooters is happening on May 31 from 3 to 8 p.m. and June 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is something that more shooting ranges should do for beginners. There are other shooting clubs and groups out there that are also a good options, but it's a good idea to start with someone you really trust. If you don't have someone like that in your life, what better substitution than DWR staff or Hunter Education instructors?

For more information on the free shooting instruction, call the range at 435-753-4600.
