Poachers Are Dumb

If it seems like I have a fixation with poachers, it might be true. I've been writing about the dumbest poachers of the year since I was hired on at the NRA, and my need to highlight the idiots that illegally harvest game has never been stronger. Each story teaches us a lesson and gives us an example of what not to do.

As a wide-eyed kid who couldn't get enough of the show Cops during its heyday, I feel obligated to bring that flavor to AmericanHunter.org. I don't have a catchy theme song but maybe we can have a contest for that too.

So, dumb poachers, what are you going to do when this blog comes for you?

From the Ottawa Citizen:

Three Quebec men have been fined a total of $6,500 and received hunting suspensions ranging from one to five years after pleading guilty in a Perth court to hunting violations.

On Dec. 1, 2008, several residents of Herron Mills, in the Township of Lanark Highlands, saw a pickup truck drive slowly by a group of deer. Shortly after dark, the defendants were seen shooting deer from the same truck, killing one deer and leaving it to spoil.

On March 9, Jonathan Blais, of La Patrie, was fined $1,500 and suspended from hunting in Ontario for five years for careless hunting. He was fined a further $1,250 for discharging a firearm from a roadway and $1,250 for making a false statement to a conservation officer. Stephane Blais, of La Patrie, was fined $1,500 and suspended from hunting in Ontario for three years for careless hunting. He was also fined $500 for making a false statement to a conservation officer.
