Outdoor Industry Rallies Around Cancer-Stricken Rick Carone

A number of companies from throughout the outdoor industry have banded together to host "Cary for Carone," a fundraiser event meant to benefit longtime industry member Rick Carone.

Buck Commander, Bone Collector, Under Armour, Beretta USA, Outdoor Channel and a number of other companies have banded together to announce "Cary for Carone"—a fundraiser meant to help support longtime outdoor industry member Rick Carone, who has been diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer.

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Illinois. It will feature a pig roast and "Rick-Roast," and the proceeds will benefit Rick and his two teenage daughters. The band Brushville will perform, and live and silent auctions will be held throughout the evening. Tickets may be purchased through Eventbrite.

Carone—father of two, avid hunter and former White Sox catcher—served as a sales rep for Hard Core Brands and Michael Waddell's "Bone Collector." He was also once a cameraman for "Buck Commander, Protected by Under Armour."

Big names throughout the industry have rallied around the 42-year-old Illinois native, offering their support. Michael Waddell's Bone Collector website is offering commemorative t-shirts, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support Carone. Meanwhile, Willie Robertson Lee and Tiffany Lakosky, Kip Campbell, Justin Martin and more of their peers have created a YouTube video to share their messages of support (see below).
