NM Agency Unable to Protect Wolves

New Mexico's Dept. of Game and Fish is unable to enforce a law that prohibits residents from using body-crushing traps for wolves and coyotes.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has announced that they are unable to enforce legislation that prohibits residents from using body-crushing traps for wolves and coyotes. The executive order was issued in July and forbids any use of these traps for 6 months beginning November 1.

Well, it's about time. The laws have been stacked against the livestock industry with ranchers suffering from the Endangered Species Act for ever. Ranchers cannot kill a single predator even when it is strongly eviodent it's depredation. Cannot kill a wolf even it threatens humans and dogs guarding a property. The gray wolves need to go. They were reintroduced and so they aren't in the wild by natural migrations. They are labelled 'endangered' by totally fabricated sets of circumstance. You cannot let habitats become the domains of livestock for 100 years and then let a bunch of wolves loose and expect ranchers to just shutup and deal with the new situation. The wolves will ALWAYS kill helpless livestock before they will go get deer and elk. If NMGF want to enforce the ridiculous executive orders, then they need to get off their asses and go find all the traps that are out there. Good luck.
