Maryland's black bear hunting season is set to take place October 24-29, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is now accepting applications for permits.

The DNR will issue 260 black bear permits, and has set a quota of 55 to 80 bears. Once the quota is reached, the hunt will be closed.

Online applications will be accepted until Friday, September 2, at 11:59 p.m.
