For many states bowhunting season has begun, and the fall deer craze is upon us. In the fall everyone loves a good stew or chilli, something a little heavier and hot to keep the cold at bay. This Quick Venison Stew recipe from the NRA Member's Wild Game Cookbook, Second Edition is a great option for someone who wants to dip their toes back into a cold-weather favorite quickly and easily.

Quick Venison Stew

Ingredients


  • 1 quart canned venison or canned bear

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 can beef consommé

  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables, can substitute 2 cups leftovers

  • 1 (16 ounce) can potatoes sliced, can substitute 2 cups boiled or sliced leftovers

  • 1 small jar pearl onions or 1 small sweet Spanish onion, diced


Combine all ingredients with undiluted soup and consommé. Cover pot and simmer 30 minutes over low heat. Season and serve.

Yield: 5 servings
