As a part of the new hunting rules approved by the Indiana DNR, Indiana hunters will now be able to hunt deer with crossbows. Other changes include an extension of the archery season, a deer license bundle and a rule called “earn-a-buck” in urban zones.
The new rules stem from pressure on the DNR by lawmakers, landowners and hunters to improve deer management, and to make doing so more affordable for hunters.
The changes will not go into effect until the 2012 hunting season.
