Sad that they had to shoot and kill the bear. I wonder why New Jersey Fish and Wildlife wasn't contacted sooner. I don't know all the facts but when I read that they tried to "contain" the bear,my eyebrows raised. The bear was more than likely just trying to get away after being surrounded by officers.I hunt bear and am by no means an animal rights activist, but there might have been a different outcome if, maybe, this would have been handled differently. Is bear hunting legal now in New Jersey? Could have been a fine trophy for a hunter!
