Seminar Summary: Join American Rifleman at the 2011 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Pittsburgh, Pa., for its look back at a century of America’s greatest combat handgun—the U.S. Model of 1911 in .45 ACP. Military historian Martin K.A. Morgan, a regular contributor to American Rifleman magazine and “American Rifleman Television”—as well as numerous shows such as “Patton 360” and “Shootout!” on the History Channel and “Time Warp” on the Discovery Channel—will address the American combat use of the .45 over the last century. If time and scheduling allow, Senior Curator of NRA’s National Firearms Museum Philip Schreier will discuss the trials that led to the adoption of the M1911 a century ago. American Rifleman Editor-in-Chief and host of “American Rifleman Television” Mark Keefe will be the session’s moderator, and he will open the event with a presentation on “Why .45.” Joining Keefe and Morgan will be Assistant Editor Angus K. McClellan as Assistant Moderator. New this year will be video footage of American Rifleman staff shooting an original Savage .45 ACP trials pistol from the National Firearms Museum collection, in addition to hundreds of photos and video presentations on the M1911.
