Waterfowl Populations: Will This Last? (Page 3)

Many believe we are on the cusp of the best waterfowl season in generations, but do we owe it more to luck than conservation?

We can either exact comprehensive change or allow the current duck population to lull us into complacency. Certainly we can buy extra duck stamps and donate to conservation groups to protect habitat. Is it also possible to reverse CRP losses and enact policy reform even in this era of fiscal crisis? And will future waterfowl managers more seriously consider predator management?

There hasn’t been a better time to be a duck hunter in nearly 100 years. Embrace it, but let’s keep it that way! The last thing our sport needs is more grumpy old bores rambling on about the good old days.
